LIVE IN NORTH EAST EDMONTON
Bounded on the south by 167 Avenue, on the east by 66 Street, and on the west by 82 Street, Schonsee has undeveloped rural area of Edmonton to its north.
One of Edmonton’s newest neighborhoods: the Neighborhood Structure Plan was approved in 2002, and 70 units were constructed between then and 2006. Construction has been ongoing since then.
Mostly single-family detached homes can be found in Schonsee and it is almost 100% owner-occupied. As part of the Lake District, its name is German for “beautiful lake.”
Over half of the neighborhood is still agriculturally zoned, and much of it remains undeveloped.
A small number of residents makes statistical breakdown of data very tough. In 2006 fewer than 300 people lived in the neighborhood, but eventually it should grow to comfortably accommodate around 3000.
That being said, it does seem to be a popular neighborhood for young married couples in their 30s who are just starting families.
