Rio Terrace

LIVE IN WEST EDMONTON

Rio Terrace is an older residential neighbourhood in the western part of the city that began its development in the 1950’s.  The vast majority of the homes are detached single-family units and nearly all are owner-occupied.

Rio Terrace is bordered on the west by 156th Street and the beginning of the Patricia Heights neighbourhood. The Lynnwood community lies across Whitemud Drive to the north, while across 149th Street to the east is the Quesnall Heights section. The River Valley creates a natural boundary to the south.

Residents of Rio Terrace enjoy easy access to convenient east-west commuting offered by Whitemud Drive. The Edmonton Transit System provides bus service to the community via 156th Street and 76th Avenue.

Inhabitants of Rio Terrace enjoy many conveniences and amenities. They have easy access to the recreational activities of the River Valley, as well as to two separate parks within the neighbourhood. Rio Park at 176th Street includes a playground; the second park, Rio Terrace Park, is located in the neighbourhood’s south edge.
