MacTaggart Area

LIVE IN SOUTH EDMONTON

Mactaggart, one of the newest neighbourhoods in Southwest Edmonton, was named in honor of Sandy Mactaggart, a Scottish immigrant and prominent Edmonton businessman in the 1920’s. Located in the Terwillegar Heights area, Mactaggart is proving to be a desirable location for young professionals. Although parts of the area are not yet developed, the community is dominated by spacious single-family homes, most of which are owner-occupied.

Development on this young community began in 2005 as part of the Mactaggart Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan, and is presently ongoing.

Designed to be walkable and bicycle-friendly, Mactaggart is defined to the east and southeast by the picturesque Whitemud Creek Ravine, which offers residents easy access to the ravine’s recreational activities and scenic hiking trails. On the west side of Rabbit Hill Road, Terwilliger Towne Neighborhood Park is a prime place for picnicking and strolling. A nearby shopping centre, Terwillegar Heights Towne Square, offers local residents a variety of retail shopping and casual dining options. The area’s southern border, Anthony Henday Drive, provides commuters with convenient travel to points around the city and downtown.

The neighbourhood is defined to the north by the adjacent community of Magrath Heights; it is bordered on the west by Rabbit Hill Road. Adjacent communities include Terwillegar South, Whitemud Creek Ravine and Ambleside.
