La Perle


La Perle is named for a resident, Eleodore Joseph (Leo) LaPerle, an Ontario native who operated a general store in the area in the early 20th century. The neighbourhood is bounded on the west by Anthony Henday Drive, on the north by 100 Avenue, on the east by 178 Street, and on the south by 95 Avenue. The Anthony Henday provides access to destinations to the south of the city such as South Edmonton Common, Southgate Mall and the Edmonton International Airport in Leduc. Access to the downtown core and MacEwan University is easily provided by 100 Avenue which passes right through the neighbourhood and goes on to follow parallel to Stony Plain Road east bound.

West Edmonton Mall is located to the south east of La Perle in the neighbourhood of Summerlea and offers abundant recreational opportunities for families, from an indoor amusement park, an indoor skating rink to an indoor waterpark. Additionally, the mall offers plenty of shopping.

The neighbourhood features a central school, La Perle Elementary and park site. La Perle Park, which is over 2 hectares in size.
