Gariepy is a residential neighbourhood in the western part of the city and extends from 178th Street on the west side to 170th Street on the east. Callingwood Road is considered the north boundary, and the area’s southern edge is naturally defined by the  North Saskatchewan River Valley.

Gariepy was originally developed during the economic boom of the 1970’s, with over half of the existing homes constructed in that decade. The community was named for Joseph Gariepy, an influential merchant in early Edmonton. Detached, single-family houses make up the majority of homes in the community with a small number of apartment-style condominiums and row houses also present. It is an extremely well-established neighbourhood, with virtually all homes occupied by owners. The average home price here is $477,000.

The neighbourhood features convenient access to the White Mud and Anthony Henday Drives, as well as to West Edmonton Mall.  Residents looking for outdoor recreation enjoy easy access to the scenic River Valley and its system of hiking trails.
