Empire Park

Welcome to Empire Park, a neighborhood bounded by Whitemud Drive to the south, 111 Street to the west, 51 Avenue to the north, and Calgary Trail to the east. A neighborhood built throughout the 1960’s to the 70’s, Empire Park became an eclectic mix of apartments, row houses, duplexes, and single family dwellings. Due to the higher concentration of apartment-like residences, 94% of this neighborhood’s housing is rented out, while only 6% are owner occupied. With access to Southgate Mall, and a direct link to the major roads that form its boundaries, this community is fast paced and cutting-edge. The majority of its residents aged between 20 to 29 years of age. As one of 15 communities joining the Neighborhood Engagement Initiative in 2010, Empire Park currently has a “Summer Movies in the Park” program that takes place every summer. Just after dark, the community plays a movie on a large screen with concessions at the ready. As part of the initiative an outdoor exercise area with a trail and course is to be installed to have a park space allowing for a healthy way for people to connect and engage in this beautiful community.
