The Clareview area was established by an act of City Council in 1972, and is bordered by the CN Rail Line to the northeast and the River Valley and Kennendale Ravine to the east and south-east.

Clareview has seen significant development in the last decade and the area’s residential buildings are a mix of single-dwelling homes, as well as low-rise and high-rise apartments. Clareview’s reasonably priced housing options make it a popular choice for younger Edmontonians: 60% of the area’s population is under 40! The area’s young population means that just under 60% of the population rents rather than owns. The area is a mix of residential and commercial zoning so many local services and amenities are available such as Costco, Future Shop, Real Canadian Superstore and Earls Restaurant.

Clareview also has excellent transit connections in the form of local LRT access; downtown Edmonton is an easy and fast commute and so is the University of Alberta, making Clareview a popular choice for students. In addition to the transit access, young families just starting out are drawn to Clareview for its fantastic local parks and nearby access to the River Valley.
