Granted its unique name from a 13th century Welsh castle built by Kind Edward I that still stands today, Caernarvon is located on Edmonton’s north side. Its east border is defined by a primary artery of the area, Castledowns Road. Its northern boundary is identified by 153 Avenue and its southern border by 145 Avenue. The west side of Caernarvon is defined between 123 and 124 Street, approximately half a block west.

Residents can enjoy easy access to commercial services at Castle Downs Shopping Centre and there are two primary schools in the neighborhood, one public and one Catholic. Development of Caernarvon began in the 1970’s and over 70% of the buildings date back to that era.

Caernarvon is known for its larger than average Arab community: 8% as opposed to the 1% city average. Most of the homes in Caernarvon are single-detached and row houses. Approximately 80% of these are owner-occupied. The neighborhood has evolved over time into a beautiful place to raise a family; centrally located parks and an active community league contribute to an undeniable feeling of “home.”
