Ice Castles at Hawrelak Park : When: December 30 – March 15 Where: Hawrelak Park, 9330 Groat Road, Edmonton, AB

This winter take the whole family and experience the Ice Castles at Hawrelak Park ! Created by Utah ice artist Brent Christensen, the Ice Castle is the only one of its kind in all of Canada and is a spectacular sight to behold and explore.  The Ice Castle is an acre sized winter wonderland and is constructed by hand using only icicles and water with thousands of LED lights embedded as they go.  There are numerous photo spots throughout including a frozen waterfall, an ice maze and for the little ones there is an ice slide and multiple tunnels to discover.  The attraction is scheduled to open to the public on December 30 and weather permitting, will continue on right into mid March. Tickets range in price depending on the day of week you visit and the full rates and schedule can be found HERE.

Out door Ice Skating at The Victoria Park Oval … When: all winter Where: Victoria Park Oval, 12130 River Valley Rd

While not a specific event, Edmonton is a winter city and as such offers a plethora of outdoor activities for families to get out and enjoy. Tomorrow’s blog will explore more in depth the numerous ice skating options at Edmontonians disposal but today we are specifically highlighting The Victoria Park Oval on River Valley Road.  The Victoria Park Oval is one of the most scenic outdoor skating venues in Canada and shares the space with the Edmonton speed skating club. The ice is open to the public from 10am – 10 pm except during ice closures which can be found on the City of Edmonton website.
