Deep Freeze : A Byzantine Winter Festival: When : January 14 – 15 Where: 118 Ave, between 90 and 94 Streets

Check out the 1oth annual Edmonton Deep Freeze Festival and embrace our cold northern climate by enjoying authentic cultural and heritage winter games and fun for the whole family! Many  activities have been planned for these two days in January including dance and musical performances, a visual art gallery, local artisans, and many other cultural and outdoor activities. World Snow Day: When: Sunday , January 15 1 -4 pm Where: Strathcona Wilderness Centre, 52535 Range Rd 212, Ardrossan, AB

Please note: activities will be cancelled if the weather is below -15.

January 15 is World Snow Day and the Strathcona Wilderness Centre is hosting a ton of free family activities to celebrate. Bring the whole family out for s’mores and hot chocolate ,  learn how to track wildlife and how to start a spark with flint and steel, as well as meet some amphibians and check out the wildlife displays.  There will also be special presentations by biologists on such topics as “wildlife habitats” and “wildlife cameras”. 


Swing n’ Skate: When: Sunday, January 15 1-4pm  Where: City Hall, Downtown Edmonton

Swing ‘n Skate will be occurring on Sundays throughout January and February from 1 – 4pm and will feature live swing, jazz and big band music in the City Room at City Hall .  The music will be broadcast directly outdoors for the enjoyment of ice skaters on City Hall Plaza and free skate rentals will be available on a first come, first serve basis (dependent on weather and ice conditions).
