Community Spotlight?Strathcona

Strathcona is a residential neighbourhood in south central Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is a “happening area with busy pubs and dance clubs, and restaurants along Whyte Avenue serving everything from Korean and Indian food to pizza and doner kebabs. It’s also a theatre hotspot, home to the offbeat Varscona Theatre, community-based Walterdale Playhouse and major annual festivals. Cool indie shops sell clothing and gifts, and the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market runs year-round.”

Strathcona overlooks Mill Creek Ravine on its east side, and is bounded on the south by Whyte Avenue. The west boundary is 107th Street, while Saskatchewan Drive makes up the boundary to the north.

Residents of Strathcona enjoy many conveniences and amenities, including easy access to the University of Alberta, as well as to the nightlife and retail opportunities of nearby Whyte Avenue. The community contains eight different parks and green spaces of its own, and also features easy entry to the River Valley system of hiking trails and bicycle paths.
